The Building Code Official is a member of the Safety and Code Enforcement staff and is responsible for reviewing all plans for new construction and alterations. These reviews are designed to ensure compliance with applicable federal, state and local building codes, standards and ordinances. The Building Code Official will perform periodic inspections of the construction to make certain that the work meets the required standards.

The township adopted the Pennsylvania Uniform Construction Code (UCC). The series of codes included within the UCC are:

In addition, the Building Code Official performs all commercial use and occupancy inspections in conjunction with the Fire Marshal.
Hatfield Township's building code requires permits for all new buildings, additions and most alterations to existing buildings. Permit applications and additional information are available on the Online Services page under permits. If you are not sure if a permit is needed, please call and a staff member will assist you.
The staff of the Safety and Code Enforcement is certified as plan examiners and inspectors in accordance with the Pennsylvania Uniform Construction Code.
